Articles of agreement between Jo D Jenkins and the freedmen whose names are hereunto attached
1st the said laborers agree to have their time as on the plantation of said Jo D Jenkins from Jan'y 1st 1866 to Jan'y 1st 1867 to conduct themselves faithfully honestly & civilly & diligently and perform all labors on said plantation as such as may be connected these with that may be required by the said Jo D Jenkins
2nd said laborers contract to be at their work and working at sunrise to loose one hour from their work for dinner for all the months of Spring June July & August, in which they will loose two hours for dinner & work until the sun is down except the season of harvest and saving of fodder they agree to work in the night if the necesities [[necessities]] of the case require it
3rd said laborers agree to take good care of all tools & implements commited [[committed]] to their care and pay for them if they are destroyed to be kind & gentle to all work animals under their charge and to pay for any injury they may sustain from cruelty or neglect while in their hands
