5th For the faithful performance of their duties & work of the Employees are to have Comfortable quarters without rent as long as they are in said Battle's Employ; the privilege of dead wood for fuel from such part of the plantation as shall be assigned them, may keep a reasonable amount of chicken, may keep one pig to each family (not to be allowed to run at large) shall be allowed a piece of ground for a garden for each family & the following provisions
four (4) pounds of Bacon or its Equivalent & one peck of meal for first class men & 3 three lbs Bacon and one peck of meal for women per week & for boys & girls in proportion. Dogs and other animals than these as above not to be kept on the farm without permission. Until the Employees have time to prepare their gardens the Employees will be allowed such turnips & other vegetables as can be spared.
6th Payments are to be quarterly, with one half reserved to Ensure faithful performance, until 1st January 1867.
7th Stock is to be attended to as heretofore
8th Stealing of articles from the plantation will be punished by discharge & forfeiture of back wages
9th Drunkeness, cursing & swearing & quarelling & fighting are forbidden.
10th Loss or destruction of implements or injury to stock will be made good out of the wages of the offending party.
11th Loss of time from any cause will not be paid for; and amount of provisions furnished during such lost time will be charged.
