This Indenting, made and entered into on the 1st day of January A.D. 1866, between JJ Baut of the County of Edgecombe and State of the North Carolina, of the first-part, and the undersigned freed labours of the second part.   Witness that the said laboro has agreed to work for the said J J Baut from this date to the 1st day of January 1867, to do all kinds of labor common to house servants and nurses, to do her work faithfully, and to be respectful in her deportment, and she further agree that one half of her monthly pay shall be retained by the said J J Baut till the end of the year, and that the amount so retained shall be forfeited by a violation of this contract, and she further agrees that time lost without leave shall not be paid for.
And the said J J Baut has agreed that he will furnish the said laboror with comfortable quarters, sufficient rations, and the amount of money per month opposite her name and that he will treat her kindly.
