This indenture made and Entered into the 25th January 1866 between Ann Eliza Joiner of the County of Nash & State of North Carolina of the one part & the undersigned free laborer of the Second part viz James Henry Scott & John Bunn witnesseth that said laborers from this date till 1st January 1867 shall perform all the duties that appertain to a well regarded plantation & be respectfull in their deportment. The party of the first part agrees to furnish the team & implements necessary to carry on a farm. The party of the second agrees to use that team & implements in the carrying on the farm, to make the crop & gather it, and to receive one half of all the crop made when housed
The parties of the second are to receive comfortable quarters. In testimony whereof we have hereunto fixed our hands & seal's
