This Indenture made and Entered into on the 1st day of January 1866 between Kinchen C Taylor of this County of Nash and State of North Carolina of the 1st part and Simon Taylor and two children George and Elizabeth Sip Taylor Son Esx. Jack wife Rady & two children William and Alice Harriett and son Andison and Martha Harry undersigned Laborers of the second part. 

Witnesseth that the said Laborers have agreed to work for the said Kinchen C Taylor from the first of this date to the 1st January 1867 to do all kinds of work common to the farm of this Country to work from light till light to do this work faithfully and to be respectful in their deportment and they further agree that one half their [[Bimonthly?]] pay shall be retained by the said Kinchen C Taylor til the end of the year and the amt so retained shall be forfeited by a violation of this Contract and they further agree that the time lost by Sickness Idleness or absence without leave shall not be paid for, and the said Kinchen C Taylor ag's that he will furnish the said Laborers with comfortable quarters, sufficient rations and the amount of money per month which stands opposite these respective names, that he will treat them kindly.
