Contract for Labor 

This Indenture made and Entered into on the on the (1st) first day of March 1866 between H C Bulluck of the County of Edgecombe and State of North Carolina of the first part and said free laborers of the Second part. Witnesseth that the said labourers have agreed to work for the said H. C. Bulluck from the said date to the [[crossed-out]] first [[/crossed-out]] last day of December -1866 to do all kinds of Labor Common to the farms of the Country to work from Light until dark to do there work faithfully to Loose as little time as possible to be respectfull in this department and he further agrees that one half of there monthly pay Shall be retained by the same H.C. Bulluck till the End of the year and that the amount So retained Shall be forfeited by a violation of this contract. And he furthers agrees that time lost by idleness or absence without leave Shall not be paid for. And the Said H.C. Bulluck hass agreed to furnish the Said Labourers with comfortable quarters sufficient rations and the amount of Money per Month which Stands opposite there respectful names
