Special Orders No 71 } (Extract)

I  Leave of absence (without pay) for the purpose of running as delegates to the State Constitutional Convention, is hereby granted the following civilians on duty in the Bureau in this District.

S.S. Gardner, Sub Asst. Comr.

Pierce Burton, Clerk
II  Mr John A Hart, will perform the duties of Sub Asst. Comr. at Greenville, Ala, during the absence of Mr S.S. Gardner, as delegate to the State Constitutional Convention.
III  Bvt Maj. C W Pierce, V.R.C. Sub Asst Comr. Bureau RF and AL, Demopolis, Ala, will proceed to Montgomery, Ala, on business connected with the Bureau:  on the completion of which, he will rejoin his station.
IV  R T Smith Sub Asst. Comr. Sub Dist. of Opelika, will proceed to West Point, Ala, and dispose of, on the most advantageous terms obtainable, all corn now in his charge at that point.  The funds received therefrom will be turned over to Bvt. Lt. Col. Edwin Beecher, Dis. Officer.

Special Orders No 72 } (Extract)

I Lieut L.J. Whiting, Chief Q.M. BRF and AL, Ala, will issue to Dr. J. Schatz, AA Surg. in charge of Hospital at this place, ten (10) pairs of pants for the use of the inmates.
II  Lieut L.J. Whiting, Chief Q.M. Bureau RF and AL, Ala, will purchase the following articles for use in the Hospital at Garland:
One (1) Stove (Wood)
Twenty (20) feet of pipe with Iron Elbows.
The necessary expenses under this Order will be settled on presentation of the proper vouchers to Bvt. Lieut. Col. Edwin Beecher, Dis. Officer.
III  Lieut L.J. Whiting, Chief Q.M. Bureau RF and AL, Ala, will purchase for use in the Freedmens Hospital at this place, two (2) large stoves and the necessary pipe and have the same properly put up.  The necessary expenses under this Order will be settled on presentation of the proper vouchers to Bvt. Lt. Col. Edwin Beecher, Dis. Officer.
IV  Leave of absence for fifteen (15) days is hereby granted Wm. E. Connelly, Sub Asst. Comr at Eufaula, Ala, at the expiration of which he will report in person at this Office.
