The appropriations of the transportation of the Quartermaster's Department are appropriations for transportation of the Army, and are applicable only to transportation connected with the public military service. Great care should be observed in sanitizing requests for transportation, which is often demanded for persons in no way entitled to it under the laws, and the regulations, and orders of the War Department.
