GENERAL ORDER, QUARTERMASTER GENERAL'S OFFICE
No. 71      WASHINGTON, D.C., NOVEMBER 29, 1865

The following decision of the Second Comptroller of the Treasury is published for the information and guidance of officers of the Quartermaster's Department:

"Affidavits taken before a notary public after the 1st of October, 1865, must have a certificate of the Secretary of the State, or of a clerk of a court of records, to the official character of the notary."
