28. By direction of the President, Major Cornelius Cadle, Jr., Assistant Adjutant General, U.S. Volunteers, is hereby relieved from assignment as Assistant Adjutant General. 17th Army Corps, with the rank and pay of Lieutenant-Colonel, under Act of July 17th, 1862, to take effect the 28th instant, and will report in person, without delay, to Brigadier-General Swayne, Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands for Alabama, at Montgomery, Alabama.
