S.O. #11 authorizing the purchase of 1080 [[pounds of]] Oats and 1260 [[pounds of]] Hay for foraging 3 Private Horses in State of Ala for April 1869.

Transcription Notes:
*In every letter I've seen in this collection, especially the ones just succeeding this entry, Henry M. Whittelsey always writes his last name clearly as "Whittelsey" in his signature and that is the way it is spelled in other outside records. Why is his name here written as "Whittlesey?" I've seen this typo in the MTSU Freedmen's Archives, and other sources have either spelling. **Ditto mark after "S.O." meaning "Special Order?" ***Ditto means "pounds of" (see: NMAAHC-007677421_00674) There's another officer in the BRF & AL who spells his name "Whittelsey." The names get confused.
