The schools previously reported, are all in a flourishing condition, and there is still a great demand for more schools and teachers, which I am informed by the Supt. of Education, can not be supported by the Government. 

The Registration of voting is quickly progressing in Marengo and Hale Counties, and will commence in the other counties of this Sub district on the 1st of July. 

I do not anticipate any trouble from this source, but I think a small squad of Cavalry stationed here, would insure quiet throughout the Sub District, some portions of which I am confident have not yet heard of Genl. Popes orders on the subject of Registration, and and in which some desperate characters are known to reside.

One complaint was made by a freedman while the Board was registering at this place, that his employer threatened to charge him $15.00 for coming to register. A note to said employer, explaining a portion of Genl. J. Popes Orders No 20. caused him to come in and deny the charge in toto. 

Freedmen are working well, and have hopes of making a good crop; particularly of Corn
