Sub Dist "of Demopolis B. R. F & A L
Demopolis Ala" May 31st 1868.

Captain Geo K. Sanderson
A.A.A. General
Montgomery Ala"

Sir
I have the honor to submit the following report of the operations of the Bureau in this Sub Dist for the month ending 31st of May 1868.

Owning to the demands of the growing crops and the interest taken in it by all, it has been comparatively a quiet month. The prospect for a bountiful harvest is very encouraging, and the Freedmen as Laborers are giveing universal satisfaction, even exceeding the expectations of this Office

But few violations of contracts have been reported, & the majority of cases have been against the employer. for abusive language, threats & assaults.

But few Contracts have been submitted to this, or the other Offices in the Dist. for approval and I am confidant that the majority of them contain provisions that are unjust and that would be objected to by an Agt of the Bureau
