One Dillard of Gainsville proved by his own letter to the constitutional convention, to be under disabilities, as I am informed by one of my predecessors, has been appointed chancillor of this Division. Though every one of his acts according to the decision of Judge Underwood is and must be, absolutely void.
The County organizations in this Sub Dist are equally defective exception the counties of Hale and Brown. The Sumter Co. Abraham has been appointed Probate Judge, and so obnoxious to the loyal people of that county
that they would not trust his appointions for Judges of election but at one precinct in said County.
In said County of Burton the Governor after a delay of four months has appointed Dillard a brother of the Chancellor before mentioned Sheriff, who I am officially informed by my Sub Agent refuses to go into the destituted portions of the County. No Justices of the Peace have been appointed in said County as far as I am informed and it is needless to add that murder, arson
