of the several Counties. At the time of such transfer of patronage, each County had one or more scurrilous newspapers whose work by issues were an offence against public decency. For want of legal advertising they are all rendered unprofitable: They have greatly moderated their tone and most of them will have to suspend.

The schools of this Sub Dist are generally in a flourishing condition and almost universally supported by public sentiment.

The State Authorities have not yet used or contributed anything to their support beyond mere appropriations in so many letters.

I have deemed it neccessary in consequence of its unsettled condition to withdraw the support of this Bureau from the School at Newbern Hale Co. Ala.
