Demopolis Jany 9 1869

Bt. Col. Beecher Sir

Inclosed I send you a letter of the Hon Wm. Miller, Probate Judge, and late acting Bureau Agent at Eutaw, Green Co. which will serve as a final report of that station.

I may take the liberty here to remark that the pacification of Eutaw, our complete reorganization of Green Co. is owing to the iron will, & thorough business capacity of this one man. I was somewhat inclined to boast of my success in the line of bringing order of the chaos in which I found things here, but my success is nothing compared with Judge Millers. I was present when he was inducted into his office by the soldiers & saw him hooted through the streets where new he his highly respected by those whom he has compelled to obedience to law.

Judge Miller, though at least ten years my senior, has, besides this heavy public duty, carried on an amount of private business unusual in this county, viz. cultivated a plantation of 10,000 acres in Green Co. besides directing the affairs of a large commercial House at Mobile

Yours Respectfully
R A Wilson
