I have the honor to submit the following "General Report of Bureau and Freedmens Affairs in this Sub District for May 1868.

But two complaints have been made at this office by freedmen; one for refusal to settle for work done in 1867, the other other for "assault and battery". Upon these parties applying to the civil authorities for their action, it was promptly given.

It would be impossible for me to give a correct report of the disposition of the whites towards the freedmen  In this immediate vicinity there appears to be a disposition to treat them well, but, with few exceptions, to do nothing for their improvement. The freedmen have the credit of working far better than last year.

No destitution exists, but that is relieved by the counties.

There are no schools for colored children, nor is there and hope of opening any without the support, almost
