Shooting of Danl. Webster (freedman) on the Chattahoochee Ricer in Ga. case brought to our notice, was forwarded to the Asst Commr. for Ga.

Remarks
Numerous complaints have been amicably adjusted at this office. Many other complaints have been referred to the civil authorities and in most cases justice has been given. Freedmen say their rights have been a great deal more respected since the establishment of [[strikethrough]]the[[/strikethrough]] a branch of the Bureau in this City, which statement is doubtling true. There are still complaints made against some of the civil officers in the more remote parts of this Sub. Dist. and steps have been taken to investigate such complaints. Freedmen heretofore have often persuaded to withdraw suits they may have entered against their employers for non payment of wages &c for last years work, by persons, who tell them that they (the freedmen) have not money enough to carry it through, and are thereby compelled to pay costs and loose an hones debt besides such cases however are less frequent owing to the fact that they can now receive proper advice.
