No 11- Letter Col. from. O. D. Kinsman, Sub. Asst. Com'r., Montg'y., Ala., desiring information as to loyalty, and fitness of Josep M. White of Clayton, for Circuit Clerk [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] for Barbour County. Received at this Office, July 16th '67.

July 31- Information obtained, and report forwarded to Maj. Green, in charge of Civil affairs, Montg'y. Ala. 

Miscellaneous Business
Many orders, and official communications on different subjects have been received at the office from Hd. qrs. Montg'y., during the month, all of which have received attention, and on many of them, full reports have been forwarded. 

Tour through Sub. Dist. 
On the 3d of July, the Sub. Asst. Com'r completed a tour through the counties of Barbour, Pike, Coffee, Dale & Henry, full report of which was forwarded to Hd. Qrs., at Montg'y. on the 5th of July.

System of Labor:
The plan of working from fifty to one hundred freedpeople on one plantation, as is done in many parts of this Sub. District, is proving to be unsuccessfull. This plan would do very well in the days of slavery, when laborers were driven by overseers by day, and penned like sheep at night, and not allowed to have any will of their own. But not, being free to think and act for themselves, they feel their individual responsibility for their conduct, and the importance of maintaining a good character; and
