Sir,

I have the honor to submit the following Report of the Operations of the Bureau and Freedmen's Affairs in this Sub. District during the month ending Sept. 30th 1867.

Cases referred to this Office from Hd. Qrs.
But few cases have been referred to this Office from Hd. Qrs. during the month. Of these, some have been disposed of according to instructions received; the others are still undergoing investigation, and will be reported in due time.

Cases Originating in this Sub. Dist.
Quite a number of complaints of different characters have been submitted at this Office from various parts of the Sub. District. All of these deemed worthy of investigation have docketed. Some have been investigated and decided at this Office; most of them, however, have been referred to Probate Judges, and Magistrates with instructions to report their actions to this office.

These civil officers have generally acted promptly, and impartially, so far as their actions have been reported. As yet, but one civil officer, (a Justice of the Peace has failed to come up to the requirements of
