[] Contracts []

There is nothing of interest to report on this subject this month. Great pains have been taken to instruct freedmen in the principle of Justice on which contracts should be based; and the importance to them of a faithful compliance with all their lawful, and just obligations.

The freedmen are now very much engaged in planting crops; and their prospects for a good crop are quite encouraging._

[] Apprenticeships []
No applications, during the month, under this heading._

[] Schools []
The schools already established in this Sub. Dist. are in a flourishing condition; and the interest in the cause of Education hitherto manifested by the colored people, is rather on the increase.

[] Abuse of Freedman []
Several cases of this character have been reported at this Office during the month. The less important of these have been compromised at this Office, but the more aggravated cases have been referred to the Civil Courts for action & report
