Revenue.

The income from contracts, has been very small during the past month, owing to the fact that a large portion of the Planters had made Contracts and sent them to Montgomery, or Selma, before I arrived. I have charged 15 cents per 100 words for Contracts, the same is allowed to Judge of Probate for recording.

Government Buildings

There are several Government Buildings here, the Building built for, and used as a Confederate Hospital, is at present used as quarters for our soldiers; it is a fine Building. The Tax in Kind Storehouse is at present used by the U.S. Treasury Agent, to store Cotton in, and rented to him for that purpose. The Commissary Building is used by me as an Office and Storehouse. There are several other buildings, principally negro quarters here, which are used by dependent Refugees and Freedmen.

List of Abandoned and Confiscated Lands.

I have been unable as yet to prepare a List of Lands owing to the want of proper help in my office. There are but very few people in this County whose property is liable to Confiscation.
