Colony.
My Colony at Garland numbers eighty five, all told, and is very slowly increasing in numbers.  The general health is very good.

Financial
The total amount of money paid in was Four Dollars, and Twenty five cents.  This being the sum received as tax on laborers contracted for.  There seems to be but little disposition felt, either by Planters, or Freedmen, to make Contracts for the coming year.  The Planters seem afraid, and there is the same feeling among the Freedmen.  I advise all to contract before the present years expires.
