Nothing of interest has transpired during the last week. A good many complaints are still made against Planters, for not complying with the terms of their contracts, but not furnishing a sufficiency of Clothing &c. but as a general thing upon investigating the different cases, both parties are found at fault. The Contract business is very dull indeed, only one I believe, has been made during the past week. I cannot blame the Freedmen for this state of things, any more than the Planters, for, if the laborers refuse to contract, and some of them were brought to my Office, I am confident by talking to them properly, and explaining to them their situation, they would contract without difficulty. My Colony at Garland is in as good condition as could be expected. Considerable clothing
