The distribution of rations has continued near the close of the month, at which time, they were all issued. 

Abstracts of all provisions under the Congressional appropriation, together with the certificates required, are in readiness to send to the A.C.S. The amount received from that appropriation is Four hundred (400.) sacks of corn, estimated at Eight hundred and fifty (850) bushels, or Forty Seven thousand Six hundred (47600) pounds, and five (5) casks of bacon, estimated at Twenty one hundred & Ninety three (2193) pounds. 

This has been distributed in nearly equal proportions, among Butler, Crenshaw, Coffee and Covington. The proximity of Butler County to the distributing Office made it almost impossible not to issue a disproportionate amount to that County. 

The working of the labor system proceeds in the main, quite peaceably. A few instances have arisen where disturbances have been raised and parties driven off evidently with a purpose to appropriate their portion of the crop. It is to be regretted that there are not willing and efficient Justices of the Peace who might have the confidence of the Freedmen. Many of their rightful claims are lost by default, through this lack of confidence.
