among the bad element of the white population does not diminish. Some are exasperated beyond their usual harshness, by the general intelligence and incorruptibility of the Freedmen in political affairs. Rumors have been heard, of proposed concerted action to keep Freedmen from voting on the days of election, but they have not as yet taken shape, so as to receive credence.
