they commenced cursing him and said they would kill him. He made his escape by running from his own home but was shot at six times. Two balls passed through his clothes, but he escaped unhurt.

Schools for the education of Colored children are greatly needed in this Sub District. I know of only one school, and that with only a few scholars. All are anxious to educate their children but they are unable to pay tuition.

If the Government funds for Education is not exhausted I would urge the establishment of at least one school in each County.
