was fully manifested. The first case is that of Giles Kirkpatrick, who upon being maltreated by his employer, reported the facts to this office, and caused him to be summoned for redress. Some time after a band of men disguised in the Ku Klux paraphernalia entered his house upon another plantation, where he had hired, and beat him very severely.

The other case is of so high handed character, that I will give a full detail from our minutes.

"William Bragg states that Burder Moorer was dismissed from the plantation of Augustus Greece in Lowndes Co., on the 20th, under the following circumstances. Burder sent his son to the house after some tobacco, Green had some words and difficulty with the boy and when Burden saw Green again, he complained about abusing his boy. Green got angry and struck Burder. Burder resisted and attempted to strike back, but before he could do so, Green shot him in the left side, the ball lodging near the spine. Dr. Peck attended him and thinks the case a critical one. The next day Green was hunting Burder declaring that he would kill him, but his sons had taken him out of the way.
