I have the honor herewith to report the operations of the Bureau R.F. & A.L. in the Sub District of Greenville for the month ending August 31st, 1868.

I have on record complaints of three (3) murders: in only one case could the circumstances and evidence warrant an arrest. to wit: Isham Bager of Conecuh County was arrested and tried for the murder of Lemis Gilmen  colored, in said county ono the night of August 13th, and was bound over to appear at the next term of court.

Complaints of assaults upon freedmen are quite frequent and there being no regular sheriff in the county, it
