For this purpose may I ask you to send me Two Hundred and fifty dollars at your earliest convenience, which amount I shall take up on my papers and property account for my account current and vouchers of next month, I am aware that this is out of the regular order things; but the nature of the case seems to demand this action in order to meet pressing demands, I think I can make arrangements for books and teachers without expense to the Bureau, with the exception of one teacher and one assistant, which I have already hired. I can get old Churches for school rooms by paying a nominal rent in the way of repairs.
The Pittsburg matter of which I spoke to you, I am informed is a success; the money is secured, and an Agent is now in my office, for the purpose of making arrangements for commencing the work of building the school house. But it is a work of considerable magnitude, and it will be at least one year before the building can be made available.
May I expect an answer in regard to the money for repairs at an early day, so that I may be able to act promptly in the matter. I have one school already started, and want to have all in operation by the 20th inst.

I am Genl very respectfully
Your obedient servant
