suspended, the cause of suspension is discovered and removed, whenever practicable, whether the claim was filed by the Bureau or by some Claim Agent; and when payments are ready to be made, it is the practice to call in some well known citizen, in good standing in the community, to read the receipts, and witness the payments and signatures.
3. Under the authority of Special Order No. 33, above referred yo, I expect soon to see all the corn in my possession. During the time it has laid in store here, the rats have done great damage to the sacks; but they are being repaired, and the corn, placed in a suitable condition to be moved, as rapidly as possible. I have not yet been able to find a purchaser for the bacon at the minimum price fixed by the Qr. Mr. B.R.F. &c., for Alabama.
There are some old, infirm and destitute people scattered through the County to whom I am issuing rations of corn and bacon; but no issues are made except to those who are helpless as well as [[strikethrough]] infirm [[/strikethrough]] destitute and their number is not great.
