General:-
In compliance with Circular No.11 dated "State of Alabama, Bu. R.F.&A.L., Montgomery. Ala. Feb'y 19th 1868," I have the honor to make the following  "General Report of Bureau and Freedmen's Affairs" for the month of June 1868:-

Considerable time has been consumed, during the month, in preparing, perfecting and paying claims of Freedmen, against the United States on account of Bounty &c. This subject is at this time occupying a large share of our attention. Many claimants who have heretofore been despondent or indifferent about their claims are now made keenly alive to their interests, by frequent instances of allowance and payment to their more hopeful or attentive comrades; and this results practically in a constant stream of queries by claimants, relative to their claims, which can be answered only by reference to the records of the office. The happy expedient, wisely adopted by Congress, of paying this class of claims through offices of this Bureau is daily saving to the Freedmen, large sums of money, which otherwise they never would receive.
