Montgomery, Ala.
Sir:-
I have the honor, in accordance with instructions received from your office to make report of the operations of this office for the month of June 1867.
I respectfully submit statement by Lieut Logan of destitute supplies received and issued at this office from Dec 1st 1866 to June 30" 1867 comprising all the issues made since the cessation of the regular destitute ration. In addition to these supplies a very few issues of the destitute ration have been made in cases of extreme destitution. It is proper to state that the greatest portion of the supplies for this district have been distributed to white people.
I have little to add to my last report with reference to the general condition of Freedmen &c. A number of Temperance pledges received by me from your office were placed in the hands of leading colored people for distribution. As far as I know, however, no steps have been taken towards the organization of Temperance Societies. I think it proper to state that I have not considered the orders received on this point were intended to enjoin active intervention on my part in such organizations.
