It has seemed to me that my duty ended with distributing the pledges and advising the forwarding of the movement. To do more than this requires a special aptitude for such matter which I hardly feel that I have.

The School for Freedmen closed for the present season on the 30th ult. They have done a good work, and their Teaching are deserving of great praise. The hope is relocated that some measures may be taken to increase the number of schools in this District. A large number of children are deprived of the advantage of instruction from their present insufficiency.

The present report has been delayed for the same cause as delayed the report for May.
