The ignorant Freedmen are thus involved in expenses varying from 12 to 37 dollars for entering in forty or eighty acre tracts where they can buy a similar farm's in fee simple for the same money and secure title at once. Therefore the Sub Dist. Commissioner has advised them to defer entering land until these evils, supposed to exist in the land office, are evicted.
This matter will form the subject of a special communication as at least twenty complaints have been lodged in this office in reference to the difficulties attending entries of Government land.

Agricultural affairs are becoming more settled than they were. Wherever adoption of the system of prompt payments has taken place. The system of retaining half wages to the end of the crop breeds, distrust, laziness and difficulties in settlement.
