hospital at the Colony, so as to provide for patients who, though seriously sick, will not require to be Kept in hospital but three or four days. However this may be, what has already been done for the sick has taken a burden of painful anxiety from my mind. and whatever may be the demands of the future means are at hand to supply them.

The Colony
Valuable changes have been made at the Colony and considerable well directed labor has been expended in building suitable houses for the destitute. Nearly all are sheltered from exposure and as their wants are being more carefully attended to and official care given to the Sanitary condition of the Colony, we may fairly look for less sickness than heretofore. Dr Beaudry has been particularly requested to institute such measures as shall promote the health of the Freedmen under his charge: and the Captain. Com'dg Colony. has been directed to see that his rules and regulations are strictly carried out. 
The long drought having cut off the supply of vegetables, Scurroy prevails to a considerable extent at the Colony This will be checked by the Fall vegetables
