Here I found Captain Harry Reed, 34th U.S. Vols. who commands the Sub District comprising the three counties of Bibb, Shelby and Jefferson. After a long interview, in which I explained the workings of our Bureau, as well as I was able, he consenting readily and cheerfully to act as Military Agent for Shelby Co. Captain Reed is a man with whom I was highly pleased in every respect. He is entrusted by his superior Officers with a responsible position, which speaks for his general and military attainments. His services will be valuable I doubt not in furthering the interests of our cause. I left with him a file of your orders and Circulars, and gave him such information in regard to details as my experience enabled me to do.
