complaints have been made of this nature by the Freedmen. In which they complain that they have been discharged from the plantation of the Employers without any seeming provocation on their part and without making the necessary just settlement with them. These cases have all been referred to the proper Civil Authorities requesting them to take immediate action as per the Laws of the State in such cases.

Assault and Battery

Three (3) Complaints of Assault & battery have been made at this office by the Freedmen in which it is [[?]] that the same have been perpetrated by white persons. All of which have been referred to the proper Civil Authorities.

Application for Transportation
Two (2) Applications have been forwarded from this office during the month. Particular attention has been paid to the condition of these applicants, in the way of ascertaining 1st their present condition whether or not they are dependent upon the Government for a support and 2nd whether they will be supported beyond all doubt at the place of destination, should transportation
