General
I have the honor to submit the following General Report of Bureau and Freedmens affairs for the month ending May 31st 1868 in pursuance of Circular no 11 current series

1st Crops

The prospect for crops in this Sub Dist continues favorable, and with continued good seasons we may expect an abundant yield of the various productions of our county unfortunately very many of the poor of both races have been compelled from necessity to give lain upon their growing crops in order to procure supplies to live upon whilest making them; and I exceedingly regret to know that many have pledged their cotton at ruinously low figures in some instances as low as 6 cts pr lb.

2 Destitution

Applications for relief continues to come in principally as heretofore reported from the counties of Lee and Macon I hope that but the old and the infirm will need be recipients of public charity but a short time, as the early crops will be coming on soon
