The true union men of this section are confident and hopeful of a better state of affairs soon, while the recent elections have tended to dishearten and demoralize (if that were possible) the democrats: Each sweeping victory from the North and West, makes their case more desperate and hopeless.

It may be considered amiss to allude to politics in an Official communication but this point upon which information is desired is so intimately connected with the result of the Presidental election that it cannot well be avoided.

The school at Mill Town, Chambers County has been closed during the month and the Teacher, (Mrs Amanda Patterson) has been driven off by the "Ku Klix". This school had Fifty eight (58) Pupils and was situated in a good locality although the whites are bitterly opposed to
