establishment of Soup Kitchens in this city. In compliance therewith, the city authorities have been counselled and the preliminary arrangements made. The necessary kettles &c have arrived. We wait the arrival of the Chief Commissary Subsistence, who we are advised will come to assist in setting the kitchen in operation.

There had been no material change in School Affairs. Blanks and Circulars have been received calling for information as to status of Schools, places destitute of them, and what assistance is needed for their organization and support. Report has been made to Supt of Education.

No change in Temperance affairs since last report. The efforts of the Bureau to secure justice to the freedmen have been comparatively well rewarded.
