I have the honor to note to you an account of the affairs of this office for the past week

A complaint was entered to this efect that a Freedwoman had been taken out of her house in the middle of the night had been taken to a swamp and not been herd from since. I sent a guard and arrested all suspected parties.

I lurnt from them that the woman had returned having been badly whiped also struck over the head with a pistol

I could gain no satisfactory evidence from any of the parties no one could recognize them or had any idea who they wer all said that there were three of them and that thay were blacked up thay new thay wer
