of prejudice - or allows averice to control his acts - The form of contracting with Freedmen is different in almost every case. The Contracts are not approved unless the following conditions are provided - That the party of the first part agrees to furnish quarters, fuel, necessary clothes, medical attendance in case of sickness, and a stated price per month, or year, or a portion of the crop - payable at the expiration of the Contract. Clothing and medical attendance usually to be deducted from wages, at the expiration of the Contract.

The parties of the second part agree to work faithfully, to be obedient and respectful and serve their employer or his agent at any reasonable work during the period of the Contract - and receive the consideration mentioned for their labor - The average price of labor is $8.50. a hand a month or 1/4 to 1/6 of the crop a year with quarters fuel and rations furnished.
