The Freedman Schools are still prospering, and the freed people generally are getting along very well, complaints of outrages and hardships are diminishing. The prospects of the crops are very fine, which encourages both classes.

In fact I think the signs of the times generally are encouraging.

I beg leave to suggest, that the better way to send books or papers for Registers or others, is by mail, for the reason that we have no Express office nearer than 50 miles of this place,
