I have the honor to Report that since my last special report there has not come to my knowledge (within this Sub. District any more outrageous acts of unlawful abuse of Freedmen or Union men, and I should be very glad if I could say as much for the court and juries. The Fall turn of the Circuit Court has just closed. The Grand Jury has been in session nearly two weeks and as I am informed have found forty nine True Bible mostly of a trifling character and principly against freedmen. great dilligence was exercised to hunt up something to indite them & Union men for, whilst very little effort was made to find out the Murdered. In fact I have no doubt that more than one of those very Grand Jurors knew very well who Murdered Mail Carrier and Freed Woman; but so bile The Husband of
