they pretended to search the house & found nothing and started as if going out, but stoped at the door turned rout & commenced firing on him. the contents of one Gun went through his right arm, and a Pistol ball struck him in the side, he at once fled out of the House & they after him firing as they went, he succeeded in getting to a (F.M.) house and was taken home next morning. the Doct. thinks he will get well, as he believes the ball has not gone in to his hollow, these facts I learned by going to se him myself a day or two after. he tells me that he knows two or three of the persons perfectly well, & that but one was disguised, he is afraid to have anything done with them until he can get to a place of protection, least they will come and finish him. the best citizens suffer great indignation; and as soon as I get him to a place of safety I shall put to test their professions by trying to have the law inforced; with this exception things have been tolerably smooth so far as (F.M.) are concerned" in this  sub, Dist. the present month, nearly all are working pretty well, and but few complaints. The next two months are generally the worst, but I think the act of the last Legislation in regard to to agrieved Laborers will remedy most of the trouble.
Genl Warner & Maj. Hays,, attempted to address the citizens, on the 28th but the meeting was broken up by Randolph & his crowd, the good citizen profess to be indignant at it.
