To Coln Edward Beecher
Asst Com. Bu. R F. & A L for
State Alabama
Montgomery.

Sir,
I have the honor to report that the affairs the freedmen in this sub, distned during the past month have been getting along fully as well as could be expected under the existing state of the country, and I am happy to be able to report that there has been few complaints of outrages & hardships from them during the past month than for any former, and as
a general thing; they are working very faithfully and seem tolerably happy and contented, & a large number of the children are attending school very attentively

The F.M. Silas Carr that was shot last Month is still very bad off, & the Doct. thinks there is no hope his recovery. One of the men engaged it the outrage has
ran away, altho the man Silas has not yet been able to attend court,

I am Very Resptly. Your Obt Svt, R Blair AL
