I have the honor to transmit herewith my weekly report. I see no very great change in the affairs of this Dept. Since my last: all goes well. the Freedmen have comenced work with Such a zeal as to merit the praise and approbation of the Planters. Planters say to me my negroes never done so well as they are doing now this appears to be the general remark and expression of the farmers of this Locality all appear to be Satisfied and doing well the Freedmen Seem to be more contented better satisfied than they have done at any former period. very few complaints reach this Office and those few are confined principally to the apprenticing of minor children it has and is yet causing the Parent- an enormous account of Suffering. it is actully necessary that Some Should be apprenticed to prevent suffering but
