I have the honor to transmit herewith my weekly report
on Wednesday last a Colored man By the name of Berry from Loachapoka reported at my office stating that on the evening of the 18th of March 1866 while himself and family  were worshiping God (in his Berry's house) by singing and praying some party or parties unknown, fired seven shots at them. one of the shots killing his daughter
I immediately refered the matter to Mr Bagget a justice of the peace and he informs me that himself and his associate Justice of the Peace are using their every effort to find out the perpetrators of this horrible murder. he also informs me that they have not any Idea who did the deed. it appears from the Best information I am able to get that this Colerd man was considered
