The other day while in Huntsville the boy came into a store, made himself known, & said "Col Callis said I should give him the pistol I took from him last fall. I was surprised he went away & returned saying Col Callis said I should come to his office. When I had attended to a little business I called at the office & found Col Callis excited. The negro boy had told him that I said he had no right to refer him to me. I assert that I meant no harm or insult nor the least disrespect. The Col requested me to give the boy back the pistol I could not as I do not know
